The first team-up from Highgate-born legend Sir Rod and musical multihyphenate Jools debuts at the summit, outselling its closest competition almost 2:1.
Despite a music and broadcasting career spanning six decades, Swing Fever marks Jools Holland’s first chart-topping record, and it becomes Rod’s 11th. This means Rod now draws level with David Bowie, Taylor Swift and U2 on the list of artists with the most Number 1 albums in the UK; all with 11 apiece. The record also tops the Official Vinyl Albums Chart.
Speaking exclusively to Official Charts, Rod Stewart says: “Are we happy about this, Jools? Totally unexpected!”
Jools Holland adds: “I’m so happy, this has never happened to me before. I’m absolutely delighted, thank you so much!”
It’s a third Top 5 album for Scottish rock outfit The Snuts this week, as their second studio record Millennials lands at Number 2. The group, comprising Jack Cochrane, Callum Wilson, Joe McGillveray and Jordan Mackay, previously saw Top 5 success with 2021 chart-topper W.L. and 2022’s Number 3-peaking work Burn The Empire. The group’s debut, Mixtape, reached Number 14 in 2020.
Millennials also tops the Official Record Store Chart this week, shifting the most physical copies in the UK’s independent record shops thanks, in part thanks to an extensive schedule of in-store appearances.
Barking-born rapper and songwriter Potter Payper also celebrates a third Top 5 album with Thanks For Hating (5). The star, real name Jamel Bousbaa, previously saw UK chart success with 2020’s Training Day 3 (3), 2021 release Thanks For Waiting (8) and 2023’s Real Back In Style (2).
Red Rum Club, a six-piece formed in Liverpool in 2016, claim a career-best and first-time Top 10 with their third studio album Western Approaches at Number 8. The band – Francis Doran, Thomas Williams, Michael McDermott, Simon Hepworth, Neil Lawson and Joe Corby – previously charted with 2020 debut The Hollow Of Humdrum (58) and 2021 record How To Steal The World (34).
As she kicks off her GUTS World Tour Stateside, Olivia Rodrigo’s former chart-topper GUTS sees a return to the Top 10 this week, up nine (10).
South Tyneside-born singer-songwriter Nadine Shah celebrates her highest-charting UK album to date with her fifth full-length collection Filthy Underneath (25).
And, finally, Plaistow rapper Ghetts earns his fourth UK Top 40 album with On Purpose, With Purpose (29). Prior to this, Ghetts saw success with 2014’s Rebel With A Cause (23), 2018 LP Ghetto Gospel: The New Testament (30) and 2021’s Conflict Of Interest (2).
