Saint Etienne has announced a new album, the nightand shared its lead single, a haunting song titled “Half Light.”
Deadline for December 13, Evening will be the follow-up to the band's 2011 album, I've been trying to tell youand marks their eleventh studio album to date. With 14 new songs, it was co-produced by Augustin Bousfield and the band themselves.
The single, “Half Light,” is an ethereal, lo-fi ballad, placing vocalist Sarah Cracknell’s soft croon on a tapestry of swollen synth pads and countermelodies. Throughout, she delivers introspective lyrics, with her stacked vocals gracefully splitting into harmonies on the chorus “in Half Light.”

First formed in London in 1990, Saint Etienne have been a fixture of the UK alternative dance scene ever since. Earlier this year, the band shared merchandise with a show they played in Birmingham in 1993 with a breakout act, Oasis, as the opening act. “I know it's hard to imagine hearing it for the first time now, but we were very impressed,” wrote the band's Bob Stanley in instagram.
