HEALTH has released new song “FREE TO DIE” featuring industrial luminaries Filter.
The song promotes a featured duet from HEALTH's Jake Duzsik and Filter's Richard Patrick. Their higher register vocals perfectly complement each other, over bursts of hyper-compressed guitar and a pulsing electronic beat. Musically, the song falls in HEALTH's court, although Patrick's ability to cut vocal melodies is also quite tangible.
“FREE TO DIE” comes as part of HEALTH's new release RAT WAR ULTRA EDITIONan expanded reissue of their 2023 full-length.
In addition to the original 12-song tracklist, the band has attached a four-song “Addendum” EP that includes the track with Filter plus previously released singles “ASHAMED” (featuring Lauren Mayberry of Chvrches), HEALTH's cover of “Be by Deftones” Quiet and Drive (Far Away)” and the Bad Omens/SWARM collaboration “THE DRAIN.”
Speaking of Deftones, HEALTH have one more US live date left in 2024 at the Dia De Los Deftones festival at Petco Park in San Diego on November 3 (get tickets here). Meanwhile, Filter just announced their support for Jerry Cantrell's early 2025 North American tour that kicks off in January.
