In the main song of Greater poweryou sing, “Life had abandoned me/ left me alone to bleed/ I was ready to meet my creator.” before singing of redemption: “Now I'm alive, I walked through the fire / I survived, I'm burning brighter.” Does the song have anything to do with your public struggles that occurred a decade ago?
Well, that particular lyric refers to an accident that occurred on November 18, 2006. I talked about it in my book where I fell off the penthouse of the Delano in South Beach, playing, fooling around under the influence, off a balcony. And I fell 40 feet and landed on my head and broke my hip. According to the doctors, if I had fallen one millimeter to the left or one millimeter to the right, my neck should have been broken and I shouldn't be here. And as I spoke to my creator, he bled me dry. He couldn't move me. It was a pretty heavy experience.
That particular lyric refers to that. That was one of my nine lives. And I think I'm at 11, but that was one of my nine. I was lucky to survive that. And the rapper TI found me and saved my life. And the journey began there to try to start changing my life.
