Sean Kingston was arrested on fraud charges in California on Thursday (May 23), according to the Associated Press.
The “Beautiful Girls” rapper — born Kisean Anderson — was reportedly arrested without incident on the Florida warrant at Fort Irwin, California, which is about 150 miles northeast of Los Angeles. Kingston's arrest came hours after members of the Davie police SWAT team raided his South Florida mansion on Thursday, with officers arresting his mother, Janice Turner, and charging the 61-year-old with fraud and theft.
The raid reportedly came in response to a lawsuit filed by attorney Dennis Card, who alleged that Kingston demands items and doesn't end up paying for them, he says. NBC Miami.
“He basically has a script, he says he's working with Justin Bieber and apparently he's doing a big show here, this is a rental house, he doesn't have it and he's wooing people who use his celebrity to get them. she left things without paying for it and then she just never pays,” Card claimed of the 34-year-old singer.
Reporters on the scene at the Southwest Ranches residence in Florida observed officers loading trucks with various items from the artist's rental home after his mother was arrested. Kingston tried to allay fans' concerns in a post that has since been deleted Instagram Story on Thursday. “People love negative energy! I'm fine, so is my mother! … My lawyers are handling everything as we speak,” he wrote.
