Original Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach has revealed he was approached to join Van Halen when the band were looking for a new singer following their split with Sammy Hagar.
Bach also shared why the group passed on him and eventually hired Extreme singer Gary Cherone and began the band's short-lived Van Halen III era.
Sebastian made the comments during his appearance at Eddie Trunk's 40th Anniversary Bash at the House of Blues Las Vegas last Monday, December 11, when he took the stage with original Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony and former Five Finger guitarist Death Punch, Jason Hook for a rendition of the VH classic “DOA”
The singer told the crowd (via Sleaze Roxx), “Can I tell you guys something? Around the time Gary Cherone joined Van Halen, Doc McGhee had a meeting with me about me joining Van Halen, but Van Halen was worried because I smoked pot! But the thing is, I learned to Smoke because of Van Halen! Som what the f***? Anyway, it all worked out. It all worked out.”
