With his new EP PartsSensu not only evokes emotions: it uses them as weapons to redefine dance floors as centers of shared experiences.
Out now via London-based label Attack Decay Sweet Release, the EP comes amid a breakthrough for the emerging Swiss producer, whose music has recently been heard on acclaimed BBC Radio 1 shows Pete Tong, Jaguar and Sarah Story.
Parts is less an EP and more an autopsy of club culture, laying bare its beating heart and tearing lungs across four emotive dance hits. A raw mix of jungle, breakbeat and 4×4, it’s the sound of a rave devoured by its own hunger for catharsis.
Sensu showcases her versatility throughout, delivering a collection that lives in the tension between introspection and movement. “My Luv” is an undisputed standout track, leaving listeners dancing deliriously on the graves of romance. A central lyrical grenade bounces off the walls of sweat-soaked synths: “You were driving me crazy, I thought you were my love.”
Another standout track is the EP's final track, the jungle-inspired “Switch Up,” where he produces claustrophobic drums beneath icy vocals before closing with a paradoxical beast that is somehow frenetic and melancholic at the same time.
