K-pop boy group Seventeen surprised fans during the second night of a two-day stop at the Macau Olympic Sports Center on Sunday (January 21) when they released a brand new song, “The Meaning of Meeting.” The emotional ballad was released shortly after on Chinese music streaming platforms as a standalone digital single, marking the first time the band released an original song only in Mandarin. Previously, the 13-member group released Chinese versions of Korean singles, including “Home” and “Highlight.”
According to a lyrical translation on Geniusthe track finds Wonwoo ogling an object of affection in the first verse as he sings, “How many times have we walked in the morning sun/ Hear each other longing for each other/ I see one person, you, in a crowd of people/ You'll be empty a drawer and you'll keep our memories safe.”
The chorus has Woozi and Dino singing, “You've been with me through the weak spots/ I've got more courage than I could ever need/ Walking on legs, a beautiful sight, everything makes my heart skip a beat/ You always believed I always believed that the sky would open again.'
Seventeen also released a performance video from the Macau show, in which the band members sit on top of a large rectangular video screen as the huge screen behind them displays a pastel moon and clouds bisected by shooting stars.
The South Korean group released their 10th EP, FMLlast April followed by another EP in October Seventeenth Heaven.
