Sex Pistols members Steve Jones, Glen Matlock, and Paul Cook will reunite for a pair of benefit shows in August, fronted by singer Frank Carter. Each evening will see the foursome playing the Pistols’ iconic album Never Mind the Bollocks in its entirety.
The concerts will take place August 13th and 14th at West London’s Bush Hall, with the proceeds benefitting the historic rock venue. Tickets for the two shows go on sale via Ticketmaster UK on Wednesday (June 5th) at 9 a.m. local time.
Jones, Matlock, and Cook make up the classic Sex Pistols lineup, minus singer Johnny Rotten (aka John Lydon), who will not be participating. With his red hair and dynamic stage presence, British punk rocker Carter should make a fine fill-in for Rotten, as he’s proven via his sensational live shows with his band Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, and before that as frontman of Gallows.
“This has been a joy from start to finish,” stated Carter. “When The Sex Pistols call, you answer. I’m very excited to be a part of it.”
Cook added, “We’re doing a benefit for Bush Hall with the famous Frank Carter. We’re going to be playing Pistols numbers ’cause they need support and they need the money. We thought it would be a great way to stop it going under. This is my local venue. I grew up in Shepherd’s Bush and I still live round here. It would be a real shame to see it disappear and we want to keep it going. So everyone get down to the gig!”
And Jones quipped, “If it all goes wrong, it’s Paul’s fucking fault.”
Sex Pistols last performed in September 2008. In 2018 and again in 2023, Jones and Cook joined forces with Generation X’s Billy Idol and Tony James to perform under the name Generation Sex.
Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, meanwhile, released their fifth album, Dark Rainbow, in January of this year. The band will be playing the UK/European festival circuit throughout the summer.
