Shaboozey's “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” claims a record-equalling 19th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Over the course of the chart's 66-year history, the song is now tied for the longest reign with Lil Nas X Road's “Old Town” (featuring Billy Ray Cyrus), which reigned for 19 weeks in 2019.
“A Bar Song (Tipsy)” became Shaboozey's first Hot 100 topper in July. It also ruled the Hot Country Songs chart (for 23 consecutive weeks), Country Airplay, Pop Airplay, and Adult Pop Airplay, among other surveys.
Shaboozey, a lover of multiple musical styles, just discovered music, “finding country was what really resonated with me,” he shared on a recent Bulletin board cover story. “I'm from Virginia, I liked the style and the lifestyle and the things they were talking about…it all seemed very peaceful. It seemed like I could be real. I've found that country music can teach people that the little things in life are where they count. You just have to have a truck that you can take your girl to climb a cliff and see the sunset.''
“I love hip-hop. I'm part of their community too,” Shaboozey added, with “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” reworking J-Kwon's 2004 hit “Tipsy”. “That's what I want to do with my music: be disruptive and show people that music is progressing.”
