Shaboozey's “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” orders a 14th run at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song, which became the singer-songwriter's first chart leader in July, extends his longest reign of 2024 to two weeks from equaling the Biggest mandate this decade. Morgan Wallen's country/pop crossover 'Last Night' topped the chart for 16 weeks in 2023.
Additionally, as “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” became Shaboozey's first uncredited entry on the Hot 100 chart, it is tied for the second-longest stay at No. 1 among all such breakthrough hits, trailing only Lil Nas' debut X, “Old Town Road” (featuring Billy Ray Cyrus), having topped it for a record 19 weeks overall in 2019.
“A Bar Song (Tipsy)” additionally pushes for the longest No. 1 run of 2024 on the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart, adding an 18th week at the top spot.
A lover of multiple musical styles, Shaboozey once discovered music, “found that country was what resonated with me in a really strong way,” he shared on Bulletin board cover story. “I'm from Virginia, I liked the style and the lifestyle and the things they were talking about…it all seemed very peaceful. It seemed like I could be real. I've found that country music can teach people that the little things in life are where they count. You just have to have a truck that you can take your girl to climb a cliff and see the sunset.''
“I love hip-hop. I'm part of their community too,” Shaboozey added, with “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” reworking J-Kwon's 2004 hit “Tipsy”. “That's what I want to do with my music: be disruptive and show people that music is progressing.”
