Shane Gillis — a stand-up comic who was announced as a new Saturday Night Live cast member in 2019 before his job was revoked after a racially slurred podcast clip surfaced — returns to host the show this weekend (February 24) and in a new promo, the comedian runs his monologue from current cast members Sarah Sherman and Marcello Hernandez.
However, Gillis struggles with jokes in his monologue, resorting to cheesy one-liners like: “I heard the new Planet of the Apes it comes out. It will be bananas.” Sherman and Hernandez, however, remain supportive.
Gillis will make his debut as host on the upcoming episode, while 21 Savage will take the stage as a musical guest for the first time.
Ariana Grande and Kacey Musgraves will promote their upcoming releases in March by performing at Saturday night live next month. Musgraves will participate Anyone but you Actress Sydney Sweeney will host the March 2 episode, while Grande will join host Josh Brolin on the March 9 episode.
