Skepta, one of the leading artists to emerge from the UK Grime scene, has announced his retirement in 2021 after amassing a strong body of work. Now, the British rapper is back on the scene and has announced a new album titled Knife and fork.
Skepta, 41, announced the news of his comeback on January 1 via Instagram and offered a short message along with a series of photos detailing what's on his mind these days while opening with a picture of himself.
From Instagram:
It's been years since I put out my last album and I want to thank you for all the love during my hiatus. I've seen the messages, the tweets and the Tik Toks, I'm really grateful that my music still resonates with the world, even in my absence.
Delighted to announce that my next studio album #KnifeAndFork is due this year, first single #GasMeUp (Diligent) will be released on January 26th [raised hands emoji].
Looking forward to seeing you all @bigsmokefestival happily ever after in 2024.
Skepta's last project was the EP All in which he abandoned in 2021 after retiring from the game and vowing never to return. The creative call was perhaps stronger than he thought, and Knife and Fork is in the works, but a release date is not yet known.
