A collision between SLANDER and Nikademis' euphoric production and Poo Bear's emotionally heady lyricism has brought fans a new anthem with an existential edge.
“If Tomorrow Never Happens,” out now via SLANDER’s Heaven Sent label, explores the finite nature of humanity while maintaining a triumphant sound and feel. Alongside Poo Bear, the melodic bass duo debuted the new single at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival in March before releasing it again at EDC Las Vegas in May.
At the beginning of the song, we are met with a gentle melody underlying a soft vocal that conveys the thought-provoking message of the title. A vigorous beat builds tension beneath speculative lyrics, which pose a series of open-ended questions about what would happen if we didn’t see the sun rise tomorrow. Then, a euphoric drop comes into play to contrast Poo Bear’s sobering hypotheses, his melody encouraging us to realize what his words mean for the present.
“One night I DM'd SLANDER in hopes that I could create a song with them that could take over the world,” Poo Bear said in a statement. “I wrote this song with the intention of creating an anthem for party and festival goers to party like tomorrow won't come. We never know when our time in life will be up and that's why we have to live like tomorrow won't come.”
