Sleep Token's upcoming North American tour is one of the most anticipated heavy music tours of 2024. In fact, it was so anticipated that it attracted ticket scalpers and robots, much to the chagrin of the mysterious band's growing legion of fans. British.
Fans have taken to social media to express their regret over a botched ticket pre-sale that occurred last week, leaving tickets sold out in most markets and in the hands of fins. Many who signed up for pre-sale ticket codes did not receive them at the promised time, and some received the code a day late, after tickets were sold out.
Tour promoter AEG Presents has since sent an email apology to fans. [via NME], stating “While our intentions were good, to put it simply: we failed. Our emails and sales codes were sent on time but delivered late. And while there are many reasons for this, there is no excuse. We dropped Sleep Token and you.”
Now Sleep Token has stepped forward to assure fans that tickets purchased by scalpers and bots (some for over $10,000) are being identified and cancelled.
“Teeth of God's North American tour sold out quickly, save for a limited remaining allocation in Montreal,” the band wrote on x (formerly Twitter). “Meanwhile, so-called 'bot/scalper' purchases are being identified and cancelled, before being redistributed for purchase by genuine followers. Please stay tuned if you would like to attend.”
While the cancellations are expected to open up some tickets to potential concertgoers at a realistic price, some hardcore fans have already splurged on scalped tickets, which could be voided.
