More than 20 years after the sketch's first debut, the singer and the late-night host are back as the Bee Gees brothers
Over 20 years after Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon first debuted on “The Barry Gibb Talk Show” in Saturday night livethe duo revived the skit in the latest episode.
The premise remains unchanged after two decades and a handful of sketches: Fallon and Timberlake's Barry and Robin Gibb welcome politicians and pundits to their show, even though the Bee Gees brothers have little understanding of politics. Instead of a thought-provoking discussion on the topic, Barry berates the guests while he and his brother break into song sporadically.
This episode's guests were justice correspondent Elie Mystal (Kenan Thompson), Forward Party founder Andrew Yang (Bowen Yang, in a portrayal of Andrew himself approved) and political influencer Joanne Carducci (SNL host Dakota Johnson), with a scheduled conversation about the 2024 presidential election. Instead, the conversation turned to Barry singing Saltburninsults and Fallon's trademark attempts to not break character and explode in the middle of the sketch.
This marked the seventh “Barry Gibb Talk Show” sketch and the first since December 2013. In that sketch – the first since Robin's death in 2012 – the real Barry Gibb himself made a cameo appearance alongside Fallon's impersonation . The sketch first appeared in October 2003:
