In case you've missed it by now, Snoop Dogg is living his best Olympic life right now. The Long Beach legend has been hitting up as many events as possible in Paris this past week in his gig as a special correspondent for NBC, and this weekend was no exception. After carrying the torch ahead of the opening of the Games last week, Snoop also checked on the USA gymnastics team, went to the Louvre for a private tour, tried his hand at fencing and jumped into a pool with the Olympic swimming legend Michael. Phelps.
But over the weekend the DOG did something even he probably didn't think he'd do during his summer working holiday: he got up close and personal with some horses, even though he's very scared of them. Snoop was seemingly able to overcome his homophobia thanks to old friend Martha Stewart.
The house doyenne and horse lover helped Snoop dress and paddock for the occasion in white jodhpurs, a navy blue riding jacket with tails — monogrammed with a giant gold S, of course — and a black riding helmet. After feeding the horses carrots and showing them his fancy footwork, the dynamic duo set up shop in the show pavilion at the Palace of Versailles, where the equestrian events take place.
In a follow-up to the 2021 viral video in which he lost his mind over a pipe “clumsy walkWhile watching dressage with comedian Kevin Hart, Snoop once again gave the ancient sport some modern flair in his commentary alongside Stewart. It helped that one of the horses he was watching was named “Gin & Juice,” ostensibly in honor of Snoop's 1994 song of the same name from his debut. Doggy style album.
“YEEEE!” Snoop screamed when he caught the horse's name as Polish rider Sandra Sysojeva came out and the track played in the background. “Okay, we have an LBC horse at home!” Snoop added excitedly as he freestyled about his new horse. “From the front to the back/ There's so much drama and partying, it's hard to be a HORSE,” Snoop rapped as Stewart tried to point out some of the skills on display and Snoop showed her his version of “this sideways walk'.
Back in the studio, Snoop told NBC Olympics host Mike Tirico that dressage is now one of his new favorite sports. “I didn't realize I like the chemistry of the driver [rider] and the horse… I call them the ‘driver’ because they actually drive the horse,” Snoop said. “And I fed the horses and I'm really scared of horses!”
