Snow Patrol are back in full force as their latest album, The forest is the path, is well on its way to securing the UK No.1 spot, according to the Official UK Charts midweek blast.
If the album maintains its lead, it will mark the band's third UK No.1 and their first since 2006. Their previous UK chart-topping albums include Eyes Open (2006) and Final Straw (2003).
The forest is the path is the first album from Snow Patrol – which consists of Gary Lightbody, Johnny McDaid and Nathan Connolly – since their release in 2018 Burr, which reached No. 2 in the UK Official Albums Chart. This comeback record, their eighth studio album, marks a return to the top after almost two decades.
Close behind in the race for No.1 in the latest chart explosion is London Grammar's the greatest love, currently at No. 2. The album is poised to become the trio's fourth UK Top 10 album, with two previous No. 1s, The truth is a beautiful thing (2017) and Californian soil (2021).
Meanwhile, Eminem's The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) makes a major comeback, climbing to No. 3 on the midweek chart after Mourner's Extended Edition release. The record, which spent three weeks at No. 1 earlier this summer, is headed for its sixth week in the Top 10.
Welsh rock band Catfish and the Bottlemen celebrate 10 years since their debut album The balcony, and its anniversary reissue is set to take the record to its highest peak of No.9, potentially surpassing its original 2014 peak of No.10.
Finally, by Nilüfer Yanya My Method Actor is on track to become her first Top 40 album, which sits at No. 17, marking a major launch moment for the London-based indie-rock artist.
With just days to go until the official UK Albums results are revealed on Friday, all eyes are on Snow Patrol as they take out the top spot for the first time in 18 years.
