Former Game of Thrones Actress Sophie Turner has dropped her lawsuit against ex-husband Joe Jonas over custody of their two daughters after the former couple signed a joint parenting agreement approved by a British judge last week.
According The New York Times, a judge in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York dismissed the lawsuit on Wednesday (January 17) with the consent of both stars. Turner sued the Jonas Brothers band member in September several weeks after the couple announced their plans to split. Jonas filed for divorce in Florida on September 5, stating that “the marriage between the parties has irretrievably broken down.”
Shortly after, Turner, 27, sued Jonas for “wrongful detention,” claiming the 34-year-old singer was holding the girls' passports and demanding the “immediate return of children who were illegally removed or detained.” The lawsuit claimed that despite their “nomadic lifestyle,” the couple agreed that their “forever home” would be in England, but that after the split Jonas allegedly “refuses to return passports to mother and refuses to send the children at home in England. with mother.”
At the time, a representative for Jonas said handing over the passports to Turner would violate a Florida court order that restricted both parents from relocating the children. The Times reported Wednesday that Judge Katherine Polk Filla told the court that Turner and Jonas signed a memorandum of understanding and a “parenting plan” for the children in October, as well as a consent order with a British court that was approved on January 11.
The former couple met in 2016 and married in two ceremonies in 2019. The first was a surprise wedding in Las Vegas in May that they held right after attending the Billboard Music Awards, where the Jonas Brothers had just performed. They then had a lavish wedding at the end of June in the South of France. Their two daughters were born in the US in 2020 and 2022 and have dual US/UK citizenship.
