Nicki Minaj has left her fans in suspense and others speculating if she and her husband are splitting after she made cryptic posts on social media.
Rap fans Superstar Nicki Minaj is worried as two recent social media posts seem to hint at a split between her and husband Kenneth Petty. The speculation started when she simply wrote “Yes Single…” in a post on X, ex-Twitter on Monday (June 10). This led fans to openly wonder if he was referring to this potential split or new music being released.
The awkward feeling was compounded by a video Nicki Minaj shared on her Instagram Stories a few hours later. She spoke sleepily in a soft voice about the struggles of motherhood, drawing on her own experience giving birth to her son with Petty, nicknamed 'Papa Bear' in September 2020. 'And then one day, they shout 'push' and you hurt ” she said while dressed in a white robe with a large pink satin bonnet on her head. “Then one day, a beautiful little boy comes out. I thank God for your glory. Kudos to every mom out there, you are doing a great job. In case no one told you this, you're doing a great job.”
It was a difficult road for them Pink Friday 2 artist in recent months. He was recently arrested in Amsterdam in May for possession of marijuana. The incident led to her canceling her Pink Friday 2 World Tour date in that city, and the 41-year-old said she was disrespected after the arrest. Her most recent tour was on Tuesday (June 11) in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Minaj also opened up about the tension that arose between her and Petty after the birth of their son in a Vogue interview in December 2023. “I'm not going to lie, things have been tentative between us,” Minaj said. “Because of our history, I think we knew we were going to get through it. But there is no trust in parenthood.” She would go on to add: “I wish someone had told me – although I'm sure I wouldn't have understood – that there's a level of anxiety and you think it's going to go away, but it actually gets scarier.”
