St. Vincent announces the Spanish version of All Born Screaming, Share Song: Listen

St. Vincent has announced a Spanish version of her latest LP, All Born Screaming. Annie Clark teamed up with director and close friend Alan Del Rio Ortiz for the work, titled Todos Nacen Gritando. Ortiz helped Clark translate the 10 tracks All Born Screamingtweaking the phrases only slightly “for melodic reasons,” as Clark said in press material. Below, listen to the new album's lead single, “Hombre Roto,” a Spanish-language update of “Broken Man.”

Clark recorded her Spanish vocals on top of the original disc, which features contributions from Dave Grohl, Cate Le Bon, Mark Guiliana, Stella Mogzawa, Rachel Eckroth, Josh Freese, Justin Meldal-Johnsen and David Ralicke.

Talking about her inspiration to create a Spanish version of it All Born ScreamingClark said:

The origin of Todos Nacen Gritando can be traced back to some of the most memorable shows I have ever played, in Mexico, South America and, most recently, Primavera Barcelona, ​​in 2023. Although separated in time and geography, and in a variety of settings and spaces , these crowds were united in their passion—singing every word to every song in perfect English. It was really inspiring. Finally, I asked myself: If they can sing in a second or third language, why can't I meet them halfway? So I enlisted my best friend and occasional collaborator Alan Del Rio Ortiz to work on translating these lyrics, making tweaks here and there for melodic reasons, doing my best to stay true to the song at hand without sacrificing accuracy. After much re-recording and re-doing of every vocal track on the album, the result is Todos Nacen Gritandoequal parts labor of love and homage to the people who inspired it.
