Listed in alphabetical order, here are the best albums of March 2024 selected by Consequence writers and editors.
Adrianne Lenker— Brilliant Future
Big Thief's ever-prolific songwriter Adrianne Lenker is back with her latest solo project, Brilliant Future. Much like his last solo outing, the appropriately titled songs, Brilliant Future it's minimalist and softer in touch compared to his work with Big Thief. Recorded in his bedroom, Lenker leans into the space present on his latest batch of songs, letting the crackles and natural reverb of his home environment dominate the project's delicate tone. Take the remake of Big Thief favorite “Vampire Empire,” which features compressed vocals, sporadic lo-fi piano notes, and a freely spinning violin. It's intentionally a little rough around the edges, allowing the emotions of Lenker's performance to shine through. — Jonas Krueger

Beyonce – COWBOY PURSE
One of the most exciting albums of 2024 comes with Beyoncé COWBOY PURSE, Act II of the Renaissance Trilogy. It's an exciting exploration of gender and identity, analyzing and reconstructing the basic elements of country music through the distinctive lens of one of our greatest pop figures. In this writer's opinion, COWBOY PURSE It's definitely best enjoyed in its entirety and in order, but finding favorites is an inevitable part of that journey; From the raucous energy of “YA YA” to the genuine emotion of “II HANDS II HEAVEN,” the album is a knockout. — Maria Siroky
