Stöner, featuring former Kyuss members Brant Bjork and Nick Oliveri, has announced a new live album, Flipping the bitch switch.
Ahead of the October 11 release date, Björk and Oliveri performed a cover of their former band's title track, “Green Machine,” which closes out the upcoming LP's track listing.
“Green Machine” was one of the standout tracks from Kyuss’ acclaimed 1992 LP. Blues for the Red Sunthe album that helped launch the careers of Björk, Oliveri and Queens of the Stone Age guitarist and future mastermind Josh Homme. Here, Björk and Oliveri reinterpret the classic song alongside Stöner drummer Ryan Güt, and boost the low end in this live version.
Flipping the switch on the bitch It was recorded live at Altroquando in Treviso, Italy, by Matteo Pillon and engineered, mixed and mastered by Tommaso Mantelli and Max Ear at Lesder Studio. The LP features 15 tracks and also includes a bonus cover of Kyuss (“Gardenia”) along with cuts from both of Stöner's studio albums.
Meanwhile, the ever-prolific Brant Björk also has a new album out, Once upon a time in the desertwhich will be released in September on her revived Duna Records label. That record also features Güt on drums, along with bassist Mario Lallo, performing under the name Brant Bjork Trio.
Stöner's upcoming live album will be released on limited colored vinyl, black vinyl, CD and digitally. Pre-order a copy via Intense psychedelic sounds.
