K-pop stars Stray Kids have unveiled their latest single “Chk Chk Boom,” which features a star-studded music video featuring Hollywood heavyweights Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds.
The track, released on Friday, July 19, serves as the lead single for the group's new mini-album ATE.
The video opens with Jackman and Reynolds reprising their Marvel roles as Wolverine and Deadpool, co-hosting a fictional news program. Between these comedic segments, Stray Kids deliver a high-energy show of bombastic dance on the rooftops and streets of the city.
“Boom, boom, I know you want it / Boom, lobo, we can't stop the hunt / Boom, ratatata, I'm gonna make it / Boom, boom, tsk tsk boom,” the group chants on the chorus.
ATE marks Stray Kids' second release of 2024, following their English single “Lose My Breath” featuring Charlie Puth.
On a recent episode of Apple Music All about Stray Kids Radio, Bang Chan and Felix talked about the new project. Felix revealed it ATEIts general idea is “something we haven't done”. Bang Chan agreed, adding that not only is the title track fresh but “many other songs [are] Also, everything is very different… what we recorded just shows a different side of Stray Kids.”
The K-pop octet's dominance of the charts continues to grow, with their previous four projects debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. This feat makes Stray Kids the first act to send their first four albums to the charts at number one behind Alicia Keys from 2001 to 2007.
Stray Kids also announced the predominate world tour, which will kick off later this year and run until 2025. The tour will see the group perform across Asia, Europe and North America.
In addition to their own project, Stray Kids are contributing an original song titled “Slash” to the upcoming Marvel film, Deadpool & Wolverine. The soundtrack, out later this month, also features hits from *NSYNC, Fergie and the Goo Goo Dolls.
