Detroit, Michigan Emcee Stretch Money returns after 4 months 1984 to release his 10th EP. It appeared in the fall of 2006 from his debut full-length album Get money to make moneyhe would go on to release 3 more LPs with 25 miles per hour as Locked in & Lil Daran from da Way Way. Its production from FA consists of The bad, The Tribute, The Drunken Master, The real moneyThe Upper Echelon: Legend of the Silver Surfa duology, Giant, Eastside Lord & above mentioned 1984. Stretch also formed the duo Bill & Isiah with Valid, presenting themselves a year ago on their self-titled debut paying homage to the 80s. However, to start the 2nd quarter of the year, he is preparing an open letter On the west coast…with love.
“LA” appropriately kicks off the EP by setting the tone as a warm, soft tribute to the capital of the entertainment world, while “Make Sum Em” goes atmospheric turf talking about being stuck in this mess and keeping faith in low of “This is Y They Mad” is that gentle middle finger to everyone who hates him for building paper leading into “Ain't No Secret” acknowledging that how he comes is actually no secret at all.
Meanwhile, on “No Favors”, we have Stretch talking passionately about not needing a plug as he has his own wires just before the shocking “Never Thought” he talks about how he would never imagine serving time behind bars as that. “Zombie” weaves in those pianos and hats that only need money and Mary Jane, but then “Cool” is a trap closer thanking everyone who got on the plane with him.
Being a Detroiter who considers Los Angeles his second home, this EP really spoke to me and I feel like a lot of people in both cities will enjoy it On the west coast…with loveas a deep love letter to the sunshine. Straight out of South Central, he and producer Vino take their connection and pour it all into this 8-track, 19-minute offering that shows their appreciation for the City of Angels.
