After many delays, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is here, and it's probably shaping up to be the most polarizing video game of the year.
The road that leads to Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League's The launch has been very difficult, but we are finally here. Rocksteady Games, best known for its fantasy Batman Arkhamverse franchise, tried to convince people that its live service/looter shooter game would be worth your time.
But that's been a hard sell since fans found out that the game won't be as pointless as the Arkham games, completely abandoning those mechanics that made those Batman games great for a game that looks like you're just going to shoot things, specifically purple orbs and villains infected by Brainiac.
The game had its wig back seriously after a disastrous game state live stream that left players with a sour taste and extremely worried if this game would be a disaster.
We finally made it to release week, and those who still want to be Task Force X and kill Earth's Mightiest Heroes confidently dropped $100 to play the game early, just to see Rocksteady shut down the servers to fix a bug.
There's also his snafu IGN revealing that WB Games would not be sending out a review code for the game. WB Games said it wasn't sending review codes to any stores until the game was released, but IGN revealed that WB Games told them they won't be getting a code, periodand they think it's all due to a very negative preview.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. It is one 4 out of 5 game?
Review codes have been distributed, $100 deluxe editions have been purchased, the game has been played, and reviews from stores are trickling in.
As of this writing, there are two reviews of the game in the wild, and both are surprisingly very positive.
“Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League it's a much better game than the marketing would have you believe. It's enjoyable both alone and with friends, and it's the best DC story in a game since Rocksteady was last in town,” VGC's Jordan Middler said in his review, giving the game 4 out of 5 stars.
He continues, “Mission repetitiveness and weird decisions around loot are definitely drawbacks, but this isn't the story of a once-great studio's single player ruined by the live-service guff we feared. The writing is great, and the humor (if you have room in life for banter) delightful. The game is absolutely gorgeous, with facial animations that are as good, if not better, than anything else on the console to date.”
Adding, “The elements of the live service that remain are a shame, but otherwise, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is an enjoyable and rewarding experience that brings Rocksteady's Arkhamverse to a close in style.”
Great game and patience
Jesse' Doncabesa' Norris gave Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League an 8.2 in his review of xbox era, saying the game “looks incredible”, has “fantastic gameplay” and “great writing”, as well as “great loot/gear setup”.
His biggest downsides to the game are the “limited variety of missions” and that it's an “online server only game”, meaning if you crash, you won't be able to play.
“Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has weathered a difficult time leading up to release after numerous delays. While the objectives can feel repetitive, the great gameplay never does. This review will be out of date in a month or two because this is a live game with live service. For fans of Destiny, The Division, and all loot-as-a-service focused gaming titles, this is a pretty good deal at launch. We'll see if they can continue to develop and improve it over time,” Norris wrote to summarize his experience with the game.
What are the players saying?
Those who shelled out $100 to play early also seem to be enjoying the game, while some are cautiously optimistic.
“The more I play Suicide Squad, the more I'm reminded of the conversation around it Hogwarts Legacy, where a good game was bogged down by pedestrians and other people who didn't actually play it. If you are a fan of Arkhamverse or Destiny, you will at least like this game. A user on X, formerly of Twitter, wrote.
Gamertag Radio and Kinda funny Xcast Parris Lilly said, “Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League is a visual presentation on PC and while I think the criticism of the enemy encounters are repetitive and the gunplay is pretty much the same across all 4 characters, I'm still having fun, how much how long it lasts is TBD However you feel about the game, it's going to be polarizing.”
We're still interested in trying this game out for ourselves before casting doubt on it. You can see more reactions in the gallery below.
