Showcasing his talent for playing guitar, mastering a deck, and singing, whether softly or with a shout, Sullivan King has released a new single, “The Beginning.” However, in a turn of events for the dubstep superstar, she adds the hyperactive fun of drum & bass to the mix.
Although ultimately heavy and intense, the new single starts off softly, teasing the illusion of a melodic record before a single cymbal leads into a frenetic pace. King illustrates a scene of desolation and despair, which quickly turns to rage with the change from soft vocals to his signature screaming style. Meanwhile, of course, a drop is coming.
This begins a chain of events, with a robust electric guitar entering the scene to join the lament. All of King's production elements then come together to build suspense and build to a vigorous release, euphoric at first, before giving way to a strident, boastful electronic pattern worthy of an equally intense laser show. And somehow, in the midst of the chaos, he manages to introduce TikTok's signature video ending sound, possibly to pay homage to his love of laughing through the popular app.
“'The Beginning' is a song about remembering that things will get better even when the world feels cold and dark,” King said in a press release. “It's filled with so much energy and life, while remaining stylistically true to what I love to write, record and produce.”
Today’s release of “The Beginning” follows King’s tour in early 2024 with iconic heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold. Soon, fans of musical mayhem will be able to hear the song live at the artist's upcoming performances at Lost Lands, North Coast, and EDC China, among other festivals.
