SXSW Unveils First Wave of Artists Featured for 2025 Music Festival

The South by Southwest Music festival has announced the first lineup of artists for its 39th annual event, set for March 10-15 in Austin, Texas. Known for promoting discovery among fans and industry professionals alike, the festival will feature an eclectic lineup from around the world.

Organizers announced today (October 29) over a hundred new and established acts appearing across Austin next March, including British pop duo The Ting Tings, regional Mexican singer Justin Morales, Dublin punk band Gurriers, the Indonesian psychedelic funk group Ali, Montreal art-punk ensemble La Sécurité, Australian rock band Delivery and indie pop artist Twin Shadow, who will debut his sixth album Georgie at the event.

“This announcement is a great teaser for what you can expect to see at SXSW 2025,” he said James MinorVice President of the Music festival. “This round features an array of outstanding artists, from up-and-coming talent to established legends, and everywhere in between. If you've been to SXSW before, you'll know that this list is more than just an eclectic playlist. it is a guide to discovery and your first step towards what you will experience in March.”

The global reach of the festival is reflected in the artist selection (see the full list below), with acts representing countries such as Argentina, Canada, Denmark, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico and Norway. The shows are curated with industry partners including record labels, booking agencies and media such as ATC Live, Billboard, Rolling Stone, Deezer, Music From Ireland and Sofar Sounds, among others, offering attendees exclusive shows on small stages.

Founded in 1987 in Austin, SXSW has grown to encompass technology, film and television, music, education and culture. The festival has also expanded to include SXSW Sydney and SXSW London, making it a major event for the global creative community. The entire 2025 conference and festival will run from March 10-15.

In 2021, SXSW signed a lifeline agreement with P-MRC, a joint venture between Penske Media Corporation and MRC, making P-MRC a shareholder and long-term partner with the Austin festival. P-MRC is its parent company Bulletin board.
