Tate McRae had two big surprises in store for fans at her concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Thursday (August 22): dueting with her boyfriend, fellow pop star The Kid Laroi, and premiering a new song.
When Laroi first came on stage with his girlfriend, he wrapped her in a big hug and drew cheers from the audience as he pulled her in for a kiss. The pair then sang an acoustic, stripped-down version of the Australian rapper-singer's 2021 hit “Without You,” with McRae telling the crowd it was “the first time they've ever sung together,” according to People.
“You cut a piece out of me, and now I'm bleeding inside/ I left here without you,” they sang, sitting next to each other on a set of steps. “And it hurts me to think what life could be/ Without you, without you.”
Elsewhere in the show – which comes in the middle of McRae's Think Later World tour – the Canadian singer-songwriter debuted a brand new track, a clip of which she posted on TikTok. “I premiered a new song at my headline MSG show,” she wrote in the text above the video, which finds her dancing along to the song's outro as white confetti rains down on the stage floor.
He also shared a clip of an unreleased song on TikTok, dancing along to its intense lyrics with a group of friends. “It's okay, I'm okay, I don't really need to say, it's okay,” she sings on the dance track. “You can have him anyway.”
“So good,” commented McRae's friend Olivia Rodrigo.
The teaser comes nearly nine months after the “Greedy” artist released her album Think laterwhich debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. She has several months left on her world tour in support of the record, with shows scheduled through November.
