Taylor Swift's surprise set went from festive to somber in Stockholm on Sunday (May 19). For the acoustic section of her Eras show at Friends Arena, Swift smiled as she dedicated a medley to Sweden's Max Martin — then waxed melancholy about her live debut “How Did It End?” from Section The tortured poets: The Anthology.
First up was Swift's pop medley on guitar in honor of the “genius pop songwriters and producers” she said she's worked with. “Max is actually here tonight,” he pointed out, revealing he was to play “what I call the Max Martin Medley.”
She started with 'Message in a Bottle', the first song she ever wrote with Martin and Shellback, which was written for her 2012 album Red but she was not released until she dropped the Red (Taylor edition) in 2021. “Message in a Bottle” is one of the vault tracks on the re-recorded version of Swift's album.
“How You Get the Girl” and “New Romantics,” both from 1989 era, completed the upbeat medley that Swift seemed excited to play at the third of a trio of shows in Stockholm this weekend.
But the happy mood changed when Swift sat down at her piano and told the crowd, “I've never played this live before,” before going straight into “How did it end?” from Tormented Poets. Appears in Anthology release of the star's new album, “How Did It End?” is a poignant ballad that questions the breakdown of a relationship.
While Swift was on stage performing in Stockholm, Advertising sign he mentioned that Department of Tormented Poets ended its fourth consecutive week atop the Billboard 200.
After completing a three-day stint in Stockholm, she'll take her Eras tour to Lisbon, Portugal, for a series of concerts next weekend.
