Taylor Swift is in the midst of a whirlwind release of her 11th studio album, Department of Tormented Poetswhich has already broken a number of records since its release on Friday and looks poised to continue setting new highs as the Swifties continue to break down their powerful 31-track song cycle.
And while Swift was very hands-on from the surprise announcement of the album at this year's Grammy Awards — then doubled down on that surprise last week when she revealed the LP would be a double-disc compilation — she got even more on Monday morning (22 April) when he posted a series of responses to critics' reviews.
Taking to her socials on Monday, Swift posted an instant classic line from the album's title track (“And this is the closest I've come to my heart exploding”) in response to The Rolling StonesThe review calls the album an “instant classic” under the title “Review: Come For the Torture, Stay for the Poetry”.
He also reposted it The Sunday Times calling the album “a five-star delight” with the line “The Alchemy” “those chemicals hit me like whiiiite wiiiiine” and I clearly enjoyed iNews Five stars consider it a “one-of-a-kind record … and one of the most emotional stars,” as evidenced by a line from “So High School,” which reads, “I feel like I'm laughing in the middle of practice.”
Concerning The independent saying that Swift's “country tales of bad boys and good girls are irresistible,” Swift countered with another line from the title track: “Everybody we know understands why it's meant to be.”
One review he didn't seem to respond to was a rare low rating from Paste magazine, which gave the album a score of 3.6/10, saying that on her latest the singer, “can't help but baby the very people who buy her music and drive her hits to the top spot”. Explaining the decision to Xmagazine said, “There is no subtext to this review because of how, in 2019 when Paste be reconsidered Lover, the author was sent threats of violence by readers who disagreed with the work. We care more about the safety of our staff than a name attached to an article.
In keeping with its multi-dimensional, flood-the-zone nature Poets In conjunction with the release, Swift also launched a track-by-track album experience with Amazon Music on Monday morning, in which she reviews the songs interspersed with the album's tracks. Department of Poets instantly became the most streamed album on its first day on Amazon Music on Friday, selling 1.4 million copies on its first day in the US
