Skeptical Folklore Single “Cardigan” was the soundtrack to a couple's engagement in Edinburgh, Scotland on Friday (June 7), and Taylor Swift watched it happen. Clearly moved by the emotional moment, Swift commented on the marriage proposal she had just witnessed from the stage in front of a packed stadium.
“You put me on and said I'm your favorite,” Swift sang with a smile. He looked out over the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium crowd as he finished his set on The Eras tour. Folklore cabin.
“I love playing this whole show in the sunlight, because I'm pretty sure I just saw someone get engaged here,” she said to cheers, confirming she wasn't imagining things. “Done;” Swift asked eagerly, then threw up her hands, laughed and shouted, “YES!”
“You have no idea,” Swift continued. “I never see it, do I? Because it's dark, usually, at night. But it's not now, so congratulations! Wow.”
“I just saw all this!” she marveled. “Man, this is amazing.”
Picking up her guitar, she added to the pair: “Thank you for doing this at my concert. This is a big moment. Huge!”
Later in the concert, the extra light in Edinburgh helped the singer make sure her fans stayed safe during her highly-anticipated acoustic set, when she performed solo and enjoyed some audience interaction at the end.
Mid-strum during “Would've, Could've, Should've” from 3 a.m edition of Midnight — which he combined with pieces from 1989“I Know Places,” as one of her surprise appearances on the show — the star stopped short of singing the bridge.
To the tune of the song, he said, “I need help right in front of me, please, right in front of me. We're just going to keep playing until we figure out where they are.”
Pointing her guitar in the direction of a person in need of help in the venue's general admission area, she said, “There,” and then, “I'm gonna keep playing 'till somebody help 'em… We're not gonna keep singing.” We'll just keep talking about the people we're helping in front of me… Just let me know when. I could do this all night,” finally continuing her song when she was sure the person had the attention they needed.
Swift followed the guitar performance with a mashup of Forever's “Tis the Damn Season” and Lover“Daylight” on the piano.
