Taylor Swift's father Scott Swift will not face charges after being accused of assaulting a cameraman in Australia.
The authorities confirmed in a statement Advertising sign on Tuesday (March 26) that New South Wales Police had decided to take no further action in relation to Scott, who was charged last month with assaulting a photographer while accompanying his daughter on a visit to Neutral Bay Wharf in Sydney.
“Officers attached to the North Shore Policing Area Command carried out an investigation following a report of an assault at Neutral Bay Wharf at approximately 2.30am. on Tuesday 27 February 2024,” a NSW Police Force spokesperson said in a statement. “There will be no further police action.”
Advertising sign Swift's representative has been contacted for comment.
The alleged incident happened shortly after the pop star's final show at the Accor Stadium, where she played four nights as part of her Eras world tour. At the time, the police confirmed in a statement People that they were investigating a report that “a 71-year-old man allegedly assaulted a 51-year-old man at Neutral Bay Wharf” around 02:30 local time, noting that the younger man “did not require medical attention.”
Shortly after, one of the “Anti-Hero” singer's representatives said Advertising sign: “Two individuals were aggressively pushing toward Taylor, grabbing her security personnel and threatening to throw a female employee into the water.”
Since performing in Sydney, Swift has taken her Eras tour to Singapore and will next perform in Europe this summer. She is now in the midst of a two-month break from performing as she prepares to release her new album Department of Tormented Poets on April 19.
Scott has long been part of the 14-time Grammy winner's touring business, with fans reporting for years that the broker enjoys handing out guitar picks to audience members at shows. In recent concerts, it was spots to hang out with Swift's boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
