All eyes were on Taylor Swift on May 9, when he began the European leg of his Eras Tour with the first of four concerts in Paris, marking his first show after the release of the billboard 200-top, record The Department of Tortured Poets.
The pop star not only premiered seven new songs from the new album (see the full setlist), but also made multiple changes to his original Eras set. Some fan-favorite songs were cut (sorry, “The Archer,” “Long Live,” and “Tolerate It”), while parts of the show were restructured to make room for new material. However, the sacrifices were worth it when Swift wowed the audience at La Defense Arena with new costumes, choreography, visuals and special effects, including an alien abduction and a clever trick that made the star appear to levitate across the stage.
However, the nighttime highlights of the hike remained. Fans were still able to shout out the full 10-minute version of “All Too Well” during the Red era, hold up your phone flashlights to listen to “Marjorie” on the Increasingly place and shout the traditional chant “1, 2, 3, let's go b—h” during Reputationis “Delicate.” The surprise song section also remained completely intact when Swift gave midnight' “Paris” and TTPDfrom “LOML” their live debut.
“This has been an unforgettable night in Paris!” Swift gushed to the crowd before closing, as usual, with “Karma.” “Thank you so much!”
