You don't have to be a Cam'ron fan to mutter “Oh, boy” after a recent appearance on CNN, when the veteran MC answered questions about Sean “Diddy” Combs and responded with one of the strangest media interviews in recent memory.
Host Abby Phillip began the segment by asking Cam'ron's opinion on the recently released 2016 surveillance footage showing Combs assaulting performer Cassie. Cam'ron called the attack “egregious,” adding: “When I saw the video, yeah, it bothered me a little bit. Since I know him, he is not necessarily a friend, but yes, I got angry when I saw him.”
And that's when things got weird. When she was asked, “Did you recognize that kind of anger in his experiences?” [with Diddy]?” Cam'ron expressed irritation. “I saw it. What do you mean by my 'experiences'? I saw it and thought it was disgusting. I didn't zoom in to see if it was really him or anything. But she admitted it was him, so yes, it was him.”
Regarding Diddy's apology video, Cam'ron snapped: “He didn't do anything to me. You have to ask Cassie if she accepts the apology.” Phillip followed up with a 2023 clip from Cam'ron's podcast. In that clip, Cam'ron talks about his early days in New York and the business decision to go to Biggie Smalls and Not Bad Boy, which Diddy had founded. Mase responded that she “knew Biggie would do the right thing” with Cam'ron. Phillip wanted to know what concerns they had about Diddy at the time and asked, “Is there anything known in the industry about how Diddy treated his artists?”
Luckily or unfortunately, depending on how much you like disorder, Cam'ron had lost interest. Instead of answering the question, he held up a bottle of his own sexual supplement Pink Horse Power, which claims to “improve stamina and libido.” As he explained, “I'm going to have some cheeks after this Horse Power joint.” His product worked, then he made some vague allusions to Diddy and went on to publish his podcast, where, he said, “I could get more information from Mase.”
Phillip tried once again to pick up the interview, but Cam'ron was not only ready to leave, he was also ready to burn bridges on the way out of town. “Who's the talent agent for this place?” he asked. “You think I'm sitting around watching what Diddy does and all this? “I didn’t know this was a Diddy’s place that you all invited me to.” To someone off camera, he added, “Hey, who hired me for this joint?” Watch the entire train crash below.
