We caught up with That Mexican OT at Rolling Loud LA. The rapper talked about performing with Bun B at the Houston Rodeo, representing Texas, and his “unlucky shorts.”
Tetris Kelly:
Hanging out at Rolling Loud with That Mexican OT. Man, I was just at the Houston Rodeo. You were with Bun B, killing him. How was the?
That Mexican OT:
Yeah, it was great, man. Shout out to Bun for inviting me, brother. It is definitely a blessing.
Tetris Kelly:
And I talked to some people, some fans on the streets there, and they were telling me that you represent Houston music really well, man. How do you feel about yourself and the culture that fits so well?
That Mexican OT:
It feels good, man. You know what I'm talking? Me being from Bay City, Texas, we are just a branch of the tree, with Houston being the tree. So it's beautiful for me to be able to bring my house and take it everywhere and have it accepted. It's great.
Tetris Kelly:
I've been enjoying watching the glow, you know? The New York Times He called you one of the seven artists who will influence music in 2024. How do you feel about your sound really resonating with fans?
That Mexican OT:
Oh, I don't know, man. He really didn't pay attention to that shit. So I'm going to say, who cares, you know? But as long as everyone likes it, you know, who cares?
Tetris Kelly:
First of all, I'm sorry my brain left here, but as soon as you say I don't give a shit, all I thought about was yourself.
That Mexican OTL
I had “unlucky shorts.” I probably got screwed about four times as an adult wearing these shorts.
Tetris Kelly:
Where are the shorts? Did you get rid of the shorts?
That Mexican OT:
After the fourth time, we had to get rid of them.
