“We focused and made a rock 'n' roll record, but we still have 20 songs out there that are more like Brothers of a Feather,” Robinson says. “Maybe we'll make an album of things other than The Black Crowes; Maybe we'll do a Chris and Rich Robinson record that's a little different. The only reason it would be interesting or even work is because, for the first time since the early '90s, we definitively know what the Black Crowes are.”
He goes on to explain how he sought to harness the dark romance of rock 'n' roll through stories and images, leaving room for the listener's own interpretation. To do so, he looked to some of the greats, including Bob Dylan, whom he calls “the greatest songwriter of all time.”
