William and Jim Reid of The Jesus and Mary Chain have announced a new memoir titled Never Understood: The Story of the Chain of Jesus and Mary.
The two brothers, along with critic and writer Ben Thompson, will trace the history of their band over the past four decades, from their origins in Scotland's East Kilbride to their critically praised debut. Psychocandyuntil the band's breakup in 1998 and their reunion in 2007.
It will also delve into the turmoil that both Reid brothers experienced in the band: problems with drugs, alcohol, adjustments to fame and brotherly disputes are highlighted throughout. never understood will be available first in the UK on August 15 (via White Rabbit) and then in the US on September 3 (via Hatchette Books).
