The Marvel Cinematic Universe may be struggling in popularity right now (Deadpool & Wolverine has the potential to change this summer). But Disney certainly has comic book fans in a frenzy with their upcoming series and shows, and they set the internet abuzz when they dropped the first trailer for the highly anticipated X-Men '97.
Decades after FOX X Men off the air, Disney+ is bringing back the beloved animated series and picking up where it left off in 1997 when Professor X said goodbye to his mutant family in the series finale. With Cyclops at the helm of the team, the OG X-Men team of Wolverine, Storm, Gambit, Rogue, Beast, Jean Gray and Jubilee will continue to battle anyone and everyone who poses a threat to the world. While no villains other than the Sentinel's appeared, you can bet that some of your favorite mutant villains like Apocalypse, Sabretooth, and Mr. Sinister will appear throughout the series.
With old-school animation and the original score that '80s babies loved on Saturday mornings, the new trailer promises to take us back to a time when a dollar could get you a bag of chips, a quart of juice and a Phillies blnt. We. Slope. Wait.
X-Men '97 is set to release on Disney+ on March 20. Will you tune in? Let us know in the comments section below.
