For The Lovely Eggs, being in a band is a way of life. It's about art. It's about creativity and expression. It's about following your own path, doing things your way and it's about doing what you want. And it's about taking the longest song you've ever written and releasing it as a single!
Taken from the band's upcoming album 'Eggsistentialism', due out on May 17, new single 'Nothing/Everything' clocks in at just over seven minutes and is nothing short of The Lovely Eggs' masterpiece on life. It's wonderfully melodic, uplifting yet melancholic, and brilliant with psychedelic sheen.
“Nothing/Everything is the Yin/Yang of life” explains singer Holly Ross. “There is hope and despair, patience and frustration, the mundane and the extraordinary. There is a universal and timeless magic in the everyday world around us that needs to be recognized, especially when things go wrong. This song is just what it is. It is not looking forward or backward. It's us now. “It’s uplifting and tragic.”
The song is complemented by a video created by contemporary visual artists Wood and Harrison, best known for their minimalist physical performance works, which are exhibited at the Tate, MoMA and the Center Pompidou.
“We're big fans of Wood and Harrison.” Holly says. “As soon as we discovered their work, we felt an immediate connection to what they were doing and drew parallels between what they seemed to express through their art and what we were trying to achieve through music. We had such a clear vision that they had to make the video for 'Nothing/Everything'. We love their work and we are very happy that they can participate.”
“We are a duo; The precious eggs are a duo. Apparently two plus two equals four. That makes sense. We do everything ourselves; They do everything themselves. But making a video for a song they had made sense. It is a beautiful song,” state Wood and Harrison.

'Nothing/Everything' is released on April 26 as a limited edition 7” on yellow vinyl with more out-of-this-world artwork by illustrator Casey Raymond. Side A features the entire 7 minute 02 second work, while the flip features a unique edit cut.
In true Lovely Eggs style, each 7” copy purchased directly from the band's website will include a mysterious limited edition collectible scratch card. What will you gain? Nothing? Or everything?
Designed by Dead Human and made in collaboration with artists Wood and Harrison, each scratch card will contain a hidden message along with a secret code, the meaning of which will be revealed over time!
Once again, the album was recorded by the band at their home in Lancaster with production work by Flaming Lips producer Dave Fridmann. They flew to the United States in December 2023 to mix the album at Fridmann's studio in upstate New York and the results are easily the ten most expansive and mind-blowing songs the band has produced yet.
Operating in a world where true authenticity is hard to find, The Lovely Eggs are one of the most exciting, innovative and genuine bands out there. Welcome to your world. Welcome to Egglandia.
