And during their recent stop in Chicago, they performed the same country-inspired record with Lainey Wilson. The shows mark the only time The Rolling Stones have featured “Dead Flowers” in the setlist for this current concert series.
Wilson stood next to Mick Jagger during the performance. The country singer took the stage in a black cowboy hat and a varsity jacket covered in Rolling Stones patches. Jagger had a cowboy hat of his own to wear during the song as he played guitar and traded lyrics and harmonies with Wilson.
Earlier in the evening, before joining the Rolling Stones for their second of two nights at Soldiers Field, Wilson opened the show. “Another incredible night in Chicago, thank you! And special thanks to @laineywilson for joining Dead Flowers,” the band wrote on social media.
“Can you believe it? I'm going to play a show with the Rolling Stones. Yeah, they're going to have to take me out of there because it's totally crazy,” Wilson said. I can't believe I'm going to share a stage with them. Mick Jagger is going to show me some new moves.”
Wilson's career-defining appearance with the Rolling Stones comes just before her fifth studio album, Tornado, which will be released on August 23rd. “This album has been a long time coming and I can't wait for people to get their hands on this project soon,” he shared in a statement earlier this year. “This new chapter of music is the most cathartic and personal work of art I have ever made. I hope this record brings some peace to your whirlwind and wraps its arms around you like it did for me.”
