After 10 billion streams, 12 million albums sold, six number one albums in the UK and two Platinum singles in the US, The Script return with the release of their new album 'Satellites' on 16th August 2024. Announced alongside news of a UK and European stage. tour, the album gets a preview today with the single 'Both Ways'.
On 'Both Ways', The Script launches into swaggering new energy, with boisterous hip-hop and funk beats delivering irresistible dancefloor vibes to complement the star quality of Danny's vocals. The result is frenetically fun, an explosive cocktail reminiscent of the Black Eyed Peas performing Bruno Mars' 'Locked Out of Heaven' and a world apart from anything The Script have released before.
Glen Power says: “'Both Ways' has a lot of energy and maybe not what people might expect from us. But we are El Guión and now we have something to prove: that there is life and light after the darkness. That’s why we’re going fast and strong with it.”
Vowing to pay tribute to his friend (Mark Sheehan) by continuing the band they had built together, vocalist Danny O'Donoghue returned to the studio and experimented in various ways: using 808s and playing with R&B-inspired sounds, focusing on upbeat rhythms. sounds and co-writing with hitmakers Steve Robson (Rascal Flatts, Take That) and Wayne Hector (One Direction, Nicki Minaj), as well as his bandmate Glen Power. What emerged is 'Satellites', an absolutely inspiring collection of songs that forges a new future for The Script while remembering that, although Mark may no longer be here, he remains a vital part of everything they do.
Danny explains, “The album cover is silhouettes of me, Glen and Ben Sargeant, our bassist, who has been with us from the beginning. Then we have a hooded silhouette, because Mark's vibe is still there. It always will be, but it is also a sign of the future. It will never be the same script. “We’re just trying to move forward and do what we all feel is the next thing to do and that is to keep making more good music.”
After reuniting for select shows of collective mourning and joyful communion with The Script family in 2023, the band are about to embark on a massive tour supporting P!nk in the UK, Europe and America before returning to their own bigs scenarios this fall. . This will see them play to over 2 million fans worldwide this year. Tour support comes from very special guest Tom Walker on all dates except Berlin, Munich and Milan.
