The Mel Gibson film will hit theaters on October 18
In the first trailer for Mel Gibson's Flight Risk, Mark Wahlberg plays an assassin who will go to any lengths to ensure his kill – the sky is, quite literally, the limit.
In the clip, Wahlberg's character pilots a small plane with two other passengers, FBI agent Madolyn Harris (Michelle Dockery) next to him and an informant named Winston (Topher Grace) behind him. The pilot-slash-hitman is calm, cool and collected even when questioned about mysterious blood marks on his neck and shirt. He writes it off as an “occupational hazard,” but the passenger sitting behind him begins to feel uneasy when he realizes that the man piloting the plane looks nothing like the picture on the pilot's license he discovers on the floor belonging to a man named Darryl. Shanty.
But the executor doesn't make his move fast enough. Mandolin quickly pulls out her gun and arrests him after taking a taser to his neck. With Daryl bound and gagged, the two untethered passengers realize they are 10,000 feet in the air with no one piloting the aircraft. “Don't shoot him, we need him,” Winston pleads with Madeleine, who sends an urgent call: “Mayday, Mayday. We have compromised. The pilot is a murderer.”
Flight hazard opens in theaters on October 18. The Lionsgate film was directed by Gibson from a script by Jared Rosenberg.
The film marks Wahlberg's third year. He starred in the adventure film Arthur the Kingwhich was released in March and will star alongside Halle Berry in Netflix's spy action comedy-thriller The associationstream August 16.
