Formed in 1973, Heart was on top of the musical world in just a few years. Their full-length debut in 1975, Annie, the dreamer, contained hits like the title track and the irresistible “Magic Man.” However, three songs into the tracklist humbly finds what remains one of the band's most recognizable songs: “Crazy on You.” “Crazy on You” not only features one of the best guitar licks of all time, but also some of the most incredible songs the 1970s has to offer. Every aspect of the multi-phase tune is pure gold, from the heartbreaking acoustic intro to the blended verses and larger-than-life chorus.
However, more than just a killer song, the song has a surprisingly sincere (ha, get it?) message of love above all else. “That song had a lot to say. It was relevant, but also sexy at the same time,” Wilson says of the meaning hidden in the sensual lyrics and composition. “He talks about the political world we come from and then he just says, 'Oh, I can't do all this.' I might also go crazy with you. When all else fails, make love.”
