NBC is moving Tonight's show starring Jimmy Fallon up to four nights a week, in line with the schedule of other major late-night programs.
By Variety, Tonight's program It will now air new episodes from Monday to Thursday, with repeats on Fridays, just like Stephen Colbert's latest show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Late Night with Seth Meyersand The daily program.
In recent seasons, Fallon has maintained his practice of producing a show on Fridays, often taping two episodes on Thursdays. Despite the reduction, the host will remain with the show for several more years. In June, Fallon extended his contract with NBC through 2028.
This is not the first cost-cutting measure NBC has taken in recent months. Earlier this summer, Meyers lost his house band, the 8G Band led by Fred Armisen. The decision came months after NBC News reportedly dismissed Between 50 and 100 employees.
