The song is the lead single off his upcoming album Hurry Up Tomorrow
The Weeknd released the single “Dancing In the Flames” along with an accompanying music video on Friday, the first new music from the singer for his upcoming sixth album Hurry Up Tomorrow.
The new video features the Weeknd driving a red convertible before it crashes, and the singer is plunged into rainfall and shards of glass. “I can’t wait to see your face crash when we’re switching lanes/My love’s beyond the pain/But if I miss the brake, we’re dancing in the flames,” he sings in the tracks chorus.
“Dancing In the Flame” arrives days after The Weeknd first debuted the song earlier this week during a special livestreamed concert in São Paulo, Brazil. That concert is still available to stream in full until Saturday. During that show, The Weeknd had also shared the unreleased tracks “Wake Me Up,” “Regular” and “Runaway.”
The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, first announced Hurry Up Tomorrow earlier in September, the final album in the trilogy that’s included 2020’s After Hours and 2022’s Dawn FM. Tesfaye has previously said that this album would be his final under the moniker as The Weeknd. He’d been teasing new music for months, sharing a teaser back in July. When announcing the title for Hurry Up Tomorrow on September 4, Tesfaye had shared a cryptic message on social media regarding the trilogy’s conclusion. He’s yet to share an official release date for the rest of the album.
“More songs could help, but what do I have left to say? Woe is me in my gilded cage, right? The very thing that once made me invincible failed me on the world stage,” he wrote in the dramatic Instagram post. “A new trauma surfaced, opening floodgates. A new path awaits. When today ends, I’ll discover who I am.”
