Just in time for summer breakup season, The Weeknd has returned to tease a rumored collaboration with Skrillex.
Over the past few years, the Canadian superstar has led fans to believe that her last two albums were the first and second chapters of a trilogy. It began with 2020's album After hours and continued with that of 2022 FM sunrisewhich included his collaboration with Swedish House Mafia, “Moth to a Flame.”
The Weeknd has now shared a detailed teaser for the third installment of the trilogy, showcasing a rumored collaboration with Skrillex. While the dubstep icon's involvement is purely speculative at this point, it's worth noting that he was influential in the development of FM sunrise and has been confirmed as a collaborator of the studio in past years.
Quoting legendary philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, The Weeknd shared a snippet of a new song, which appears to be titled “The Abyss.” Dozens of fans in the comments were quick to point out that the song has ties to a Unreleased ID with Skrillex production.
However, it's important to note that at the time of writing, Skrillex's involvement in the current release has not been confirmed. Watch The Weeknd's teaser below.
