For fans of The Weeknd who won't be able to catch him in Brazil next month for his one-night-only show, they're in luck. The superstar will broadcast his show live on September 7 at the Estádio MorumBIS in São Paulo exclusively on YouTube channelannounced on Wednesday (August 21).
“Feast your eyes. Sao Paulo will be broadcast live on September 7. Only on YouTube,” he wrote on Instagram while sharing a visually stunning teaser directed by YZA Voku, which previews a new song. The live broadcast will start at 5 pm. PT.
Produced by Live Nation, the Brazil show comes nine months after the superstar appeared in Sao Paulo for two nights during his After Hours Til Dawn tour. The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) performed at Allianz Parque on October 10 and 11, 2023 and played at Estádio Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro on October 7.
“I am so excited to announce that we will be broadcasting my show live from Sao Paulo, Brazil, so that everyone around the world can be a part of this special night,” he said in a press release. “I wish I could come to every city and town on earth, but moments like this give us a chance to connect in real time at least and share that energy together, wherever you are.”
It was previously announced that The Weeknd, who is a United Nations World Food Program Goodwill Ambassador, will partner with the UN World Food Program to contribute $1 from every ticket sold for the special Sao Paulo show to XO Humanitarian Fund, which supports the organization's response to the unprecedented global hunger crisis. He will also donate 10% of the net proceeds from all merchandise sales at the event and online to his Brazilian Soul Fund Brazilian Foundation. These funds will directly support communities in Brazil affected by natural disasters and economic hardship, with a focus on helping the most vulnerable families in southern Brazil recover and rebuild their lives after the devastating floods.
