Post-hardcore band Thursday are back with their first new music in 13 years—today. The band debuted “Request for release from the dream” during an intimate concert in Albany, New York last night (April 11) and debuted the single for sale on 7″ vinyl at the merch table. Now, the track is available on all streaming services. Check it out below .
“Application for Release From the Dream” follows Thursday's 2011 studio album, No Devolución. The new track is also their first recording with guitarist Norman Brannon, formerly of Texas Is the Reason.
In 2015, the Fifth reissue of their 1999 debut LP, Stand by; the following year, the group reunited after a five-year hiatus. In 2018, Thursday played a series of intimate shows in San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
Thursday is currently wrapping up a short run of club shows that will continue throughout the year. While the press materials referred to their new song as a stand-alone release, Thursday will continue to work on more music, with plans to share songs as they are recorded.
