Following the cancellation of three Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna on Wednesday (7 August) following the arrest of two suspects who were allegedly planning to launch a terrorist attack at the shows this weekend, ticketing companies have released information on how ticket holders will receive the concerts refunds.
“We are aware of the news regarding Taylor Swift's upcoming canceled shows in Austria,” Stubhub announced in a statement provided to Bulletin board on Wednesday. “All StubHub ticket holders will be notified immediately via email. We will immediately provide StubHub ticket purchasers with a 120% voucher for another purchase in accordance with our event cancellation policy and FanProtect Guarantee. Buyers who prefer a 100% refund can submit the request directly to their StubHub wallet.”
Meanwhile, Austrian ticket company oeticket posted the following statement on its website: “Please note the following information from the organizer: Due to the confirmation by government officials of a planned terrorist attack at the Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone's safety. All tickets will be automatically refunded within the next 10 working days.”
The same message was originally posted on August 7 by Barracuda Music, the concert promoter for the Austrian shows. Details on how oeticket refunds will be processed were not immediately available at the time of publication.
The announcement of the show cancellations came hours after police confirmed that a 19-year-old Austrian national had been arrested on Wednesday morning for plotting an unspecified terror attack in Vienna, said to be centered around Swift's concert. Another teenage suspect was arrested in the afternoon, according to ABC News.
Swift's Vienna shows would mark the second-to-last European leg of her Eras tour, followed by a five-night run at London's Wembley Stadium scheduled for August 15-20, for which Swift recently announced five new opening acts . On Thursday (August 8th), British officials announced that there was no indication that terrorist threats ahead of Vienna's canceled shows would have an impact on her upcoming performances in London.
In October, Swift will return to North America for one final run through the US and Canada before ending the world Eras tour once and for all with a show in Vancouver on December 8th.
